The Ultimate Guide to Building A Superpowered Chia Pudding Bowl

Pro-tip: I love to stock up on a lot of my go-to healthy dry goods and superfoods at Thrive Market! They offer a 25-50% discount on a lot of natural living products and my favorite healthy pantry items.

1. The Canvas

Let's talk about the base of our bowl: chia pudding!

Chia seed pudding is full of healthy satisfying fats but, albeit often being promoted as a good protein source, they can be lacking. 1 oz of chia seeds only has 4.7g of protein. The recipe below calls for about 4 oz of chia seeds and make 4 servings, giving you less than 5g of protein per serving from chia seeds.

The grass-fed collagen peptides in the recipe below add more protein, but note that the protein in collagen is made up of non-essential amino acids. These non-essential amino acids have a myriad of benefits but do not make a complete protein, so it's important to incorporate other sources of protein. Just some important things to keep in mind!

2. mix-ins

Our mix-ins are what make the chia pudding bowl "superpowered"!

You can choose from a variety of mix-ins depending on what benefits, flavor, and/or color you want for your bowl! Simply stir them in with a spoon or combine in your blender on a low setting.

Mix-in ideas to mix things up:

Now it's time to dress your chia pudding bowl! You can choose from all sorts of add-ons to make your chia pudding bowl pretty and more satisfying. It can be fun combining flavors, textures, and colors!

Here are some things you can add to create your Superpowered Chia Pudding Bowl masterpiece:

  • Nut butter drizzle (cashew, almond, walnut, coconut, etc)

  • Grain-free granola (I love this one from Purely Elizabeth)

  • Berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)

  • Fruit puree (mango, acai, etc)

  • Fresh fruit (banana, kiwi, papaya, apple, peach)

  • Toasted coconut

  • Cacao nibs

  • Nuts and seeds

  • Goji berries

  • Bee pollen

  • Coconut yogurt

  • Mint leaves

  • Edible flowers

And there you have it! Get as creative as you'd like.

The possibilities are endless!

Here's what I used to make my Superpowered Chia Pudding Bowl you see below:

I mixed in Moodbeli Holy Ashwaghanda (it pairs well with cinnamon) and a packet of Four Sigmatic Chaga Elixir, drizzled on some Justin's Cashew Butter, topped with Purely Elizabeth Coconut Cashew Grain-Free Granola, I added fresh organic blueberries, sprinkled with Beekeeper's Naturals Raw Bee Pollen, and garnished with an edible flower from the farmer's market for aesthetics. #doitforthegram

Makes about four 8 oz servings.

  • 4 cups nut milk of choice (almond, hemp, coconut, and cashew are my go-to's)

  • 1/2 cup chia seeds

  • 4 scoops Vital Proteins Grass Fed Collagen Peptides

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • Sweetener of choice. Monkfruit or stevia if you're aiming for a low-carb meal. I've found that 1-2 chopped medjool date or 1/2-1 tbsp organic maple syrup is great too. Adjust depending on your preferences.

  1. Combine all ingredients and blend in your Blendtec (except chia seeds) until thoroughly blended.

  2. Stir in chia seeds until mixed evenly.

  3. Pour contents into 1 large container (or 4 small ones for individual servings) and refrigerate overnight.

And that's it! Super easy, and you have a filling and satisfying base for your chia pudding bowls.
