When things heat up, I'm all about staying cool. Introducing, my Watermelon Lime Margarita Pops!
Have you tried making homemade popsicles before?
After trying this [super easy/super tasty] recipe, you might find it hard to go back to store-bought popsicles, most which contain added sugar in the form of high fructose corn syrup, unwanted preservatives and additives, and artificial flavors. No thanks!
This recipe combines a few simple, whole-food ingredients for an all-natural, refreshing way to stay cool and hydrated!
It's perfect for a fun family snack, a pool party refreshment, or (with a little tequila, if that's your thing) a fun adult treat.
But, before I give you the recipe, lets talk about why I chose the ingredients I did...
Nothing tastes like summer than watermelon! This juicy melon contains only 46 calories per cup, is super hydrating, and rich in antioxidants.
Coconut water is often referred to as "nature's sports drink." It has fewer calories, less sodium, and more potassium than typical sports drink.
In this recipe, it adds a nice, nutty and tropical touch.
Not only is it "minty fresh," peppermint can also soothe the digestive tract and help reduce stress. And it tastes pretty darn good.
Lime Essential Oil
Emotionally, Lime essential oil is the oil of "zest for life." As far as physical benefits go, Lime's main chemical constituent, Limonene, supports a healthy immune system and has a gentle cleansing effect on the body - giving #cleaneats a whole new meaning. 😉
Pro-tip: I love to stock up on a lot of my go-to healthy dry goods and superfoods at Thrive Market! They have a great discounts on a lot of natural living products and my favorite healthy pantry items.
Essential Oil-Infused Watermelon Lime Margarita Pops
- 1/4 small watermelon (how much you'll need will vary, depending on the watermelon size)
- 1 8.75 oz Harmless Harvest Coconut Water
- A few fresh peppermint leaves
- 3-4 drops dōTERRA Lime essential oil
- In a blender (I love my Blendtec!), add all the ingredients. Blend until smooth.
- Evenly distribute the mixture into a popsicle tray, and pop in the freezer.
- Once frozen, they are ready to enjoy!
ALTERNATIVE ENDING: For parties or an adult treat, try adding a little tequila to the recipe! Sprinkle with pink Himalayan salt that salted-rim finishing touch. 🍹
